So, Beau is a lover of all things Nintendo and last year I painted these 6x6 inch canvases for him and he loved them. When I asked what he wanted this year he said more of the paintings. This is fine and dandy because they are small and fun to do the only problem is that I already chose the 4 easiest characters in the Nintendo world. He now wants to add in Mario and Luigi into the mix. This is going to take some practice and time. This also explains why I have sketches of them all over my desk on post it notes. I bet the people at work think I am crazy or obsessed with plumbers that can magically jump through pipes. I will keep you guys posted on how the rest of the paintings come out but first I need suggestions on other characters to do. Please comment and vote who you want me to paint for Beaus present.

Fall

I was driving home from a church activity on satuday and realized that the trees along the freeway were starting to turn colors. This is always one of my favorite things to look for and my favorite fall leaves are the deep red ones. I don't know why but they have always stood out the most to me.

We have been eating a ton of the fall foods that I have already posted about and it has not gotten old yet. There is nothing better than that first bowl of chicken and dumplings for the first time in months. It makes you want to curl up in a blanket and slow down. We have also had quite a bit of hot chocolate since Beau has learned how to boil water and is addicted to adding flavors to the hot chocolate. Really I think I might need to intervene at some point.

The kids are finally able to play for extended times outside since it is no longer 100 plus degrees outside. This goes for the grown ups too. We have started letting Beau watch the kids for about 45 minutes while Mike and I go on a walk 2 or 3 times a week. We are enjoying the time to be able to chat and flirt without mini eyes watching and laughing.

Crafts are itching to come out of me right now. When the weather cools down I feel the need to start crafting again and this year is no different. The difference, however, is that I don't have time. I am now finding myself searching for quick crafts that are easy and fun to do and aren't lame.

Yeah, I know this a random post but I really love fall and I just realized today that we are halfway through september and I better get to cracking on my fall decorating or I will miss it completely and be putting up christmas instead!

One of my favorite times of the day.....

Since both of the older kids get to ride the big yellow bus each morning and are on it at 6:15am that gives me and tiny Link almost an hour to just relax and snuggle. This has become a very good part of my busy day. It allows me a few moments to just snuggle up to my baby and watch Martha on PBS. I am sure you guys have figured out by now that usually Link is not a sit still and snuggle type of guy and that is why I love our hour of time. It turns out he is not a morning person and is happy to grab his snuggle blanket and put himself in my arms. He likes that I laugh at the talking dog on tv and that for just an hour he is the only kid the house. At first he was confused by the sudden calm and silence that filled the house but over the past few weeks we have both come to savor that calm and enjoy the time snuggled together while expanding our vocabulary with Martha the Talking Dog on PBS.

Soups on!

Literally, We have busted out the soup! Mike and I have been craving soup and fall type dishes since about the end of july but we waited until Sept first to start them. There is just something about a fall dish that makes you all happy inside, even if the AC is blowing. Last night we had Mike's Meatball soup and it was perfect. So much so that I am having it in about an hour for lunch too! Next week will be chicken and dumplings. See not we aren't going all crazy but we are starting to switch our menu over slowly. What is your favorite fall dish? Also, if you crock pot as much as I do check out www.crockpotgirls.com.
