We have had a busy two weeks. It seems that we are having a record breaking spring for storms and tornadoes. In the past week we have had a severe storm almost every night and several tornadoes including one that ripped through the Air Base in our town. Beau lost a school mate that was in the first grade and there have been many more deaths in the state. Northern Arkansas is flooded and my family and friends up there have me worried and central and southern Arkansas keep getting ripped up by storms and tornadoes so it is just an insane state right now.

We have been so blessed as a family that we have emergency plans in place. The kids know what to do in storms and in fire emergencies and it helps as a parent to know that we are doing something right. We also have a box of candles and matches for when lights go off, food storage and have prepared ourselves with first aid and CPR training. People always laugh at us when we talk about emergency preparedness but you will never see us running to the grocery store before an ice storm or sitting in the dark during a storm. Those of you familiar with my church know that Latter-day Saints like to be prepared for everything and I am thankful that we have heeded that advice.

Even if you are not a member of my church I would encourage you to take the steps to prepare for emergencies. Here are a few good links

My thoughts and prayers are with anyone that has been in the path of these storms and floods.

So about 2 months ago I started to really look onto coupons and discount savings. I was very confused and didn't know what to do and the research I was doing was just making it harder on me. Well, I found some sites that list what coupons to use on what sale to get the lowest prices of the week and they even break it down a little and I am starting to figure things out. I am also starting to get a little addicted. Last night using coupons I actually had some items that walmart paid me to take home. I got to use the extra amount towards my other purchases. I like to come come from shopping and play the "how much did i pay for this" game with Mike and last night I surprised him when I said that I got 10 cents back on some of it. I also found some coupons and sent mike to the store to get some games for easter and he paid 2 bucks for the game of operation! It is crazy the kind of deals you can get. Anyways, it is not like that crazy extreme coupon show on TLC (even though I do watch it). I am getting a nice little supply of cleaning products though. I have not built up my supply of coupons enough to get a lot of the cheap items but I am getting there. Here are some of the links if you are interested.

Happy Adoption Day!

A year ago today my husband, Beau and I took Princess and Link to the courthouse to finalize our adoption. It was such a great day. We woke up early so that I could fix Princess's hair up and she wore the cutest dress. The boys even dressed up in white shirts and ties too. We had a little breakfast and I got every bit of documentation and proof that I thought I might need to prove to the judge that these children have been mine since before I came to earth. When we got to the courthouse my parents and our close friend Thomas Sepe were waiting for us and we got to go up to the dingy waiting room and wait. That is what we did for 2 hours. If you have ever been to children and family court you know that it is a long wait and that you will see some pretty weird things too. None of this took away from the wonder of the day. We brought entertainment for the kids and I kept erupting into random tears. We also got a call from Justen and Amber that they found out the were expecting a baby! This was the only made the day that much better. My parents were great at keeping me distracted from the clock and calming me down too. Finally they called us back. I cried the whole time. When they asked me why I thought I should have the kids I simply said because I love them and they are mine. Mike said basically the same thing. It was and is the simple truth. I might not have carried them for 9 months but they were still my children and I can't even imagine what life would be like without them. It was kind of funny because Link never left Beau (as usual) and Princess wanted to stay on her daddy's lap the whole time too. The whole thing only lasted about 15 minutes but it changed my life forever. We finished out the day just hanging out as a family and looking at pictures over the past year that they had been with us and I made mike stop off so we could get the new birth certificates that day. I didn't want to wait a moment longer. I am still amazed sometimes that we have only known them for two years because it truly feels like they have been with us since birth. I guess that was Heavenly Fathers plan the whole time for us. I am so thankful that Mike and I have three children and that we are such a happy family. I know that we had to find each other in different ways but anyone that has seen us knows that we were supposed to be a family. There is no question about it that we are the Taggard Clan. Happy Adoption Day to my two youngest angels! Thank you for choosing me to be your forever mother. I hope that I never let you down and that my love will be strong enough to erase all of the bad that you had to endure before we found you. I love you.

Spring Break

I know I am a week late but I am usually late with posting. Overall, we had a perfect spring break. As I said in the last post for the first part of the week everyone was spread out but we eventually came back together and had some great times. Every year Mike and I take off a few days of spring break to do fun stuff with the kids and it just gets more fun every year as the kids get old enough to help plan. Here is our day by day break down.

Thursday: Mike kicked us all out of the house at 8 am to go to the store and buy the plants for our garden. We spent the whole day planting and figuring and having fun being together outside. I know it doesn't sound like much but we really did have a blast. My oldest son is becoming such a big help to mike and I and the two little ones keep us laughing as we work. We then called it a day and watched family movies and probably ate something fatty but good.

Friday: This was our kids planned day. We were able to keep our promise to take the little ones to Build a bear so that they could adopt thier own friend like Beau did when he was younger. Princess picked a Lamb that is named Princess Lamby (see the trend) and Link picked out a puppy that he named Mr. Puppy (he says it like Pucky). We had fun building them, dressing and just the whole process. Beau even picked out a new outfit for Mr toad (his old friend).

We then moved on to the candy store in the mall and the kids each got to fill up a bag of candy that they could eat on all weekend. Ok, so mike and I got one too! It was great to see them just be kids in a candy store for lack of a better phrase. Link was insane crazy with the choices and Beau kept trying to pick out stuff to give to other people. Princess seemed to think her bag needed to be bigger than the boys but in the end everyone was happy and we headed to the next location.

You guessed it, Chuck E Cheese! The place that is overcrowded and where Mom gets stuck watching the table and food while everyone else has fun. No, it really is fun. The kids had a blast and they earned enough tickets to get plenty of cheap plastic toys. We did have one scary moment when I realized that the blong curly head that I was watching was not Link but some random kid and we had to find him. As you can see above we found him and then my heart started back up. Here are a few more pics.

We then went home for a game night and to recover. It was a fun day. We spent the rest of the weekend just working around the house together, playing games, baking and having a great time together. I hope all of you had a great time too.
